How long after my session do I get to view my proofs?

Approximately 2-3 weeks after your session, you will receive a proof packet in the mail.  Inside you will find a release form, proof instructions, a proof CD, a price list, and thumbnail images from your session.  You can view the CD of images in the comfort of your own home and then place your order via email to jamie@krausphotography.com.  You are guaranteed the price at the time of your session if your order is placed within 2 weeks of receiving the packet.  Any order placed after 2 weeks is subject to new pricing if it has changed.

What should my children wear?

This is a tricky question, but one that deserves much attention prior to the session.  I often tell clients to wear solid clothing without logos or distracting patterns.  This draws the focus to the children's faces and shows off their one of a kind expressions.  Now here's where it gets tricky....often times patterns really make photographs fun and different.  A striped pancho, cowboy hat, or a bright colored shirt is sometimes just what is needed to make the session pop.  So...what do I do you ask?  Please bring 4-5 outfits or pieces of clothing that you are considering and I will be happy to pick and choose just what compliments your child and their personality.   I strongly discourage shoes in any session, so please don't spend any time or money buying footwear for their outfits.  For family photographs, choose one or two colors (brown & green, red & brown, blue & charcoal) and work within that color scheme to coordinate.  Kids don't have to exactly match, but if they are wearing all different shades of one color, that can really create a beautiful portrait.

Do you photograph weddings?

No.  I have taken both bridal portraits and engagement pictures, but I'd prefer  not to photograph weddings.  I am so in awe of children and the way they respond to the world around them, that my primary focus is on them and their families.

I truly enjoy your work, but cannot afford the session fee.  Do you ever give discounts?

Since many of my clients are medical residents, this is a question I get asked frequently.  I have embraced the concept of portrait parties because of this reason.  I understand what it is to appreciate beautiful art, but not be able to afford it.  By organizing a portrait party, you are able to have portraits of your children taken at a fraction of the cost.  Portrait parties have a minimum of 5 groups/families and each group/family pays $100.  They are each given a short block of time (20-25 minutes) to have their family photographed and then are given a CD of proofs to choose their favorite photographs.  So grab a few friends and let's set a date!  I am happy to work with you so you can have the quality of work you deserve.

I love the slideshows you use to present the proofs.  Are those for sale?

Unfortunately, those are not for sale at this time.  I am working on making that happen, but it will still take quite sometime.  Thanks for your patience!
